Here is a quick FAQ centered around the Diablo 3 PTR: The Public Test Realm (PTR) is a special Diablo III server that is set up with the most recent build of the next major Diablo III patch. This server will allow the development team to test the new patch in a live environment, and gives players a look into the new content coming with the patch.
Any player with a Diablo III license that is in good standing (not suspended or banned) is able to participate in the PTR.
The PTR is available in English, French, German, and Korean.
First, create a PTR account by logging into your Battle.net Account Management page and selecting your Diablo III license. Once on your Diablo III landing page, click Create a PTR Account.
After you have created your PTR account, you will be able to download the PTR client from your Diablo III landing page, or from your Game Downloads page in Battle.net Account Management. To play on the PTR, simply launch the PTR client and log in normally. You will be connected to the PTR server automatically.
You can copy the heroes from one region on your live account to the PTR. To copy your heroes, log into Diablo III normally and use the PTR Copy banner that appears in the upper right corner to copy your characters.
Only one region per account can be copied at a time. If you choose to copy characters from your account in a different region, any previously copied PTR characters will be lost.
Note: The PTR Copy banner will not appear in-game until you have created a hero on your PTR license.
Copied heroes do not share progress with their originals on live servers. Progress from the PTR will not transfer back to the live servers.
If you encounter a bug on the PTR, please report it through the PTR Bug Report forum. The PTR Bug Report forum will appear when the PTR is open before a major patch, and can be found on the list of our Diablo III Community Forums.
